The rain has been coming down for two days now but it stopped raining for five minutes so I was able to take a picture in the garden and document the raindrops - and, I can share my excitement over some new yarn I purchased from Applelaine. It is absolutely sumptuous... a soft blend of wool, mohair, silk and nylon...rich colors called licorice, chianti, and dark chocolate. I am already contemplating a great sock pattern that should showcase this wonderful yarn. Cloudy, rainy days are an opportunity to relish my moments of kicking back and reading a great magazine or knitting on a started project, with a good glass of wine.
I read five papers (mostly the business sections) as part of my daily work routine to ensure I know what is going in the global financial markets and the news. Lately the news is bad - global catastrophes, people struggling daily to survive and feed their families, people losing homes. I clearly realize how fortunate I am to live here; to enjoy my simple evenings and do things that give me great pleasure - safe and warm in my cozy home. I consider myself blessed.

The photo of the rain drops is beautiful. I admire you for reading 5 papers a day ... I have trouble reading one and I know that I really should. Maybe I should stop reading blogs in the morning with my coffee!!
lovely pictures, ilove that with rain drops laying on the leaf, now here the sun is shining finally, but everything is still with water.
i hope spring would came back soon!!!
Beautiful photos.. love the raindrops and the yarn.. yummy.
The state of the world is depressing. I think a lot of the problems we face is down to a few very rich people at the top controlling a lot of what happens...
But I still love that yarn! :)
lovely post. we are indeed lucky.
(clink) cheers!
That photo is glorious.
Does us all good to stop and count our blessings from time to time :o)
Now I see the bottom photos too, they didn't show up first time and I was thinking mmm that yarn sounds gorgeous why didn't Raina show us a photo?! Those colours together are fab.
So finance could be quite depressing job. It hardly happens in art history as long as one doesn't get involved with contemporary stuff, you look at nice things all the time and their story is usually finished so no big excitement. I noticed that medicine doctors share lot of jokes from their ambient, just to get over the misery that they encounter every day (you never hear that in art history, just imagine).
Your photos just keep getting better and better. The yarn looks luscious; I'll be looking foward to your projects. These are frightening times. We are very fortunate indeed...
The Raindrop photo is amazing. Truly awe inspiring. We do need to remember to count our blessings more often.
Yes I am lucky too. Lovely raindrops, and lovely yarn.
I've tagged you for a meme if you fancy it - details in my latest post :o)
I hope you don't mind but I have tagged you for a meme.

love the photo of the raindrops on the leaves: )
my husband is in finance for Target Corp and he reads a lot of news to stay current too. there are a whole lot of things to feel blessed about for us as well and we try to be grateful every day for those blessings.
:)
p.s. i have to chime in on this...LOVE the raindrop photo! it can be really tricky to get a shot like that.
