One aspect unique to our little corner of an entire universe of blogland is 'the giveaway'. Our community of bloggers graciously share of themselves through all manner of gifts. Jen, who has a phenomenal photo blog, americana, had a 'paying it forward' giveaway. She sent me a most beautiful handmade notebook (in the image above) and now I will reciprocate by sending a gift to someone else. Waldo Emerson said that the greatest gift is a portion of thyself - to me, a handmade gift is a true reflection of that sentiment. Happy weekend everyone.

What a lovely notebook. The socks you knit will be much appreciated by someone.
I'm already playing in a Pay It Forward so you don't need to add me into the draw.
Pay It Forward is a wonderful thing!
But of course I would love to pay it forward! I am never sure which is more fun, receiving something lovely and handmade, or giving something you've made to someone else. Both are about as good as it gets!
Emersonis so right...fabulous idea and fabulous socks!
i love that our knitting community is so generous and giving!
Count me in! What a cool idea! Those socks look gorgeous.
What nice sock yarn. And what a nice idea.
The more generous we are the more generous the world becomes.
Once again my dear, dear Emerson is right.
what a wonderful and swet idea, gift in the blogsphere... i'm in....those socks are wonderful, and i love the color...
i adore that cup as well, so relaxing moment!
A great idea, Raina. I'm in. And what a nice notebook you have. I love the bee - do you mind if I "borrow" the image to turn into an applique? He would look lovely on a little tote. ;o) Judy
great idea.
your photos are so pretty. and i LOVE the elephant you made. so cute!
Don't you just love the generosity of bloggers - especially crafty bloggers? I'm so glad I discovered this blogosphere of ours. x
I love the Pay it Forward concept and handmade gifts are tops in my books. Having benefited already from PIF I'll be a generous girl and leave someone else to be lucky enough to win those BEAUTIFUL socks
Such a great idea- I love the pay it forward concept!
Handmade socks are so special and I appreciate being included in your contest!
Hi, Raina! What lovely, lovely gifts...a very heartwarming package of treats you received from Jen! And she has an incredible blog--she wields a camera with great artistry! That handmade journal is so beautiful...As are the words of Emerson. Much as I would love to join along with the PIF, I will have to bow out this time around, but hope to catch on with another later. Such things are so much fun. And I am always humbled by the generosity and care of the blogging community. Enjoy your treats...and have a great weekend! :o) ((HUGS))
What a lovely idea! Sorry I missed this one. Beautiful photographs too - so inviting!
What a great idea, and what delightful gifts. The notebook is gorgeous and the socks look cozy.
I hope you had a nice weekend!
I've done pay it forwards in the past and have really enjoyed them. It's such an amazing concept! Alas, with fieldwork coming up, I'll have to wait until later in the year before I can commit to another one!
The socks are beautiful--such amazing colors. Whoever receives them will be lucky indeed! And what a beautiful notebook you received. Thanks for linking to her blog---such lovely images!
What a great PIF Raina. This version is a little more personal too -- instead of paying forward to three people, it's just one -- easier to get others to sign up for it too. Those socks look just beautiful!
BRILLIANT idea! I absolutely LOVE it!
IF you haven't already drawn (I know I'm late!) I would just about kill for a pair of your socks!
oh! i am sorry i missed this, they do look cozy!
I think it's so cool you're doing this!
beautiful post and a great idea!
oh SHOOT! I can't believe I missed this. I hope your forward kindness comes back 100 fold :)
Huge congratulations to Ester, those socks are beautiful.
Your photos are always so soothing and delightful, wonderful colours.
I am so glad you are enjoying your journal. I love seeing it in your pictures!
