I finished a pair of socks that I found mentioned on Sarah's blog. I used a Koigu yarn I had in my stash. It is not their painters merino - it is something else and I did not enjoy knitting with it. I had problems with the first sock but the second one was a breeze. In the end I have to say that they are classy looking socks and I am happy with them. The Babe quipped that pretty soon I will need to open a shop selling my socks because he thinks I can't possibly wear all the socks I knit. Snort! Can you imagine what I would have to charge for a pair of socks to make money on them? Obviously he has no idea!
As you can see by the photo, I was too lazy to get out of bed to photograph these socks. But who can blame me; I got the new Toast catalogue in the mail and I love the photography. Toast is a significant source of inspiration for me photographically.
Happy weekend everyone!

Hope you have some more lazy days this weekend!
I saw that sock pattern online, Raina, and loved them! I am seriously thinking about knitting those someday soon. Love the color of yours!
Great pattern find! BTW, I know koigu is supposed to be "all that" but I find it a bit like knitting with twine - LOL Once off the needles, though, I do love what I've knit :) Next pair I think I'm going to try Lornas laces again.
Just when you think human nature can't get any lower you realize you have set the bar too high. So sorry you are in a position of having to field calls like that.
Forgetaboutit and ENJOY your weekend!
sorry to hear work is still very hard...i wish you a wondefully peaceful weekend.
with love

I completely understand how knitting is the place to hide from the nasty aspects of real life. Drawing is the place I breathe too. We are fortunate, we have these places :)
Nice socks!
lovely sock, raina! sorry to hear things at work are so stressful and difficult :( i owe you an email. sending hugs!
I wish somebody knew for sure that all is going to be well with the world SOON! In my part of the world things have been pretty bleak for a while. My neighbors tell me that as long as we can mend our clothes, and farm our land we'll be ok ...
Nice socks. It's a mystery to me how knitted socks can stay up: the only one (single) sock I ever knitted was more of an ankle warmer:(
I agree...there can never be be too many lovely hand knit socks!
snort. too many socks? not likely, eh?
Loving that coffee cup/mug, and here I was thinking some spiffy new 'zine with a sweet little t-shirt pattern :^)
I'm just keeping my nose in the wool as much as possible also..
That's SO funny -- I can't imagine ever selling socks for money, when just the cost of yarn is more than you would pay for ready-made socks. People really don't understand why we make socks -- I don't even try to explain it anymore.
Your socks are beautiful -- I love the pattern. Is koigu yarn machine washable?
I love your work stories. I'm totally in awe that I my invisible friend is now in control of the direction of the stock market LOL!
bed is just the perfect place for photographing socks!
take care, have a nice weekend!
I am glad that you are able to find solace in knitting. It certainly is my happy place too and has helped me through difficult times.
I'm not getting out of the bed today, either. Well, not for a while anyway. lol It's rainy and cloudy outside and I don't have a single place to be. Bliss.
Very pretty socks, love the blue. It's my fave. Koigu is another fave too.
lazy days and knitting socks...beautiful
I signed up to get a Toast catalog and I hope it is coming soon!!!! =]
Deliciously cosy and beautiful socks, Raina...lovely pattern! I love Toast too...great gear and great photos. So glad you are having a bit of a lazy weekend to "recover" from last week. :o) I'm sorry your work is so stressful for you. Thank goodness life affords many opportunities for pleasure and escape when we need it for a little while. Take care, my friend ((HUGS))
i love the color and the pattern, wonderful socks as always!!! i wear yours everyday, they are so warm and soft, i'm in love of them and i tell everybody the story of those socks... everybody is fashinated by that!!!
have a nice day!!
I too signed up for the Toast catalog. And your socks are fabulous.
Lovely socks! Glad that knitting is so therapeutic for you - I work with in a customer service role too and it can be very stressful.
Great socks! I love Toast, I can see why you find their photography inspirational. Hope you had a great weekend.
Beautiful socks even if they weren't easy yarn to handle. Jane x
Raina, you make the most fabulous socks. You could never have too many. I find knitting a great solace too, though luckily I don't have a stressful job to escape from.
I just love the first photo!
Wishing you a good week! :)
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
There is no such thing as too many hand knit socks!!!
We've had layoffs down here and everyone is just as crazy. Thank God for the simple things in life, right! :)
your photos are an inspiration:)
So pleased that you have knitting to help you cope with all that work junk being thrown at you - some days I wonder how my colleagues that don't knit get through!!
I am smiley at being the one that pointed you to what is definitely one of my all time fav sock patterns - your version and photo of them is of course loveliness made into substance.
Also I heart that bee mug - just saw my first fat bumbler of the season out in the sun today. Happy happy.
Hey! I did not get a new Toast catalog!!! I wonder if I need to re-request one... Although I'm not a big sock knit, those are fabulous. Is everyone having these crappy work experiences? People need to chill. I know! They ALL need to knit...
so sorry you have to go through so much at work. i am glad you have knitting as an outlet! it really is mine. all of your pictures are so beautiful and inspiring.
Beatiful socks [and diptychs]. They are now in my queue.
Beautiful socks--and what better place to display them than stretched out on a bed. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
Am also loving that bee cup.
I love the Toast catalogue too, I keep all my old copies and browse through them regularly for a bit of beauty and inspiration in my day.
I'm glad your knitting is helping you keep grounded, I often thing knitting is rather like yoga with its marvellous power to calm and centre us.
