the naked bike race

Yes....I actually did witness a naked bike race. I am on my beloved Vancouver Island, first for work and in a few days, for pleasure....and this being the land of vegetarians, pot smokers, hippies, and the duly retired, well, a naked bike race somehow seems appropriate. Especially when the participants are gleefully riding 'a la buff' through Government Street in downtown Victoria. Luckily for all of you, I forgot to bring my camera cord so you are all spared the gory details. I have to say that the guys did not look too comfortable in my opinion - most of them were riding with their butts off the bike seat - for some strange reason.

Sorry for this brief note - I am actually attending a conference and have very little time to post. However, I really thought you would want to know about the naked bike race. I will say that it will probably be the highlight of my trip!!!!

Too funny! It certainly can't be that comfortable.

This is something I wouldn't expect in Amerika at all, although I have known about Vancouver island. (I wonder how many Czechs live there...)Canada is probably less tightened then the frightened US. (My husband is applying for a job as a painter teacher and is seriously worried that the paintings of Virgin Mary breastfeeding her baby would offense the committee. Yes, I am facing up possible moving over there. I can only hope it wont happen.)

Now that's really seeing the sights on your vacation!

Do try and snap some pictures of the scenery. I was there as a child and recall how amazingly beautiful that area is.

Heh. Not at all surprised they rode with their butts off the seats, not only uncomfortable but... well, do you think they took 'flattering view' into account? pun intended.

Hahaha -- that WOULD be the highlight of any trip! How uncomfortable would that be though? And especially if you would fall off the bike. I wonder if googling the race would turn up pictures LOL!

when i lived in new orleans, i would hear over and over about a man who would ride a bike on one of the freeway interchanges, naked. well, lo and behold, one day i did witness the nude cyclist. so funny (and most likely, uncomfortable).

Butts off of the bikes? I guess if they are already riding naked they aren't afraid of being exhibitionists!

We love the Island too - enjoy every moment :)

p.s. Have you ever been to the restaurant Rebar (it's in Bastion Square)? If not, go! I think you'd love it!
