...and so we are almost on the other side

2009 is almost finished and a new year is upon us. I could not let my blog sit without that final note and the chance to wish you all a wonderful 2010. I hope for great adventures, happiness, good health and opportunity for all of us.

I have been simply relaxing during the holidays - I did get outside to take some pictures, but mostly I just relaxed, browsed magazines, drank wine and ate lots of food. I have many resolutions for the next year - most of which are really only pertinent to me and hence would be somewhat boring to recite. One of my lighter resolutions is - do I give up eating so much cheese or just run another marathon - meh, I think the marathon will win out; cheese is just too good to pass up.

wishing you a very happy Christmas

The house is all finished and our renovations are at an end... at least for a few months. The decorations are out in every room, the cleaning lady has been here and my holidays have begun. As usual, I am taking a break from blog land until the new year. I do want to wish all of you my friends a most wonderful, delectable holiday season. I also wanted to leave you with a few pictures of our new family room and kitchen area. I look at these photos and can't believe how wonderful it all is. The kitchen has temporary storage furniture until it is completed next year - but everything is clean and organized and I am thrilled.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and may your new year be filled with much love, health and happiness. Hugs to all.

the weather outside is frightful...

I can't believe this but here I am posting on a Thursday. That has not happened in many, many a months. We have had pretty much an ongoing series of days with cold, snow and commuting that would raise the hairs on the back of your neck. We are desperately trying to finish our baseboards, but when you get home at eight o'clock at night, the last thing you feel like doing is painting! I am hopeful that we can do a huge push and have things finished off this weekend - cross my fingers and toes.

In the meantime, I have been picking up my camera again and pointing the lens at anything that I deem 'picture-worthy'. The only problem now is that I look at some of these Christmas corners, which right now only comprise two rooms, and I am so impatient to get the rest of the house decorated. Actually, I am impatient to be able to just clean the rest of the house and get the shoe rack out of my living room!

Happy weekend all.

i'm dreaming of a white Christmas

We are in the midst of a blizzard and lucky me because I am sitting at home in warmth surrounded by Christmas lights. It is on very cold days like this that I often count my blessings that I have a home and family and friends and I feel very lucky indeed.

I promised you some Christmas corners...it seems that my decorations are all white this Christmas! So fitting for a day like today. I like how the snowman seems to be floating on my glass-top sideboard. The simplicity of white is a welcome respite from the chaos of renovations.

Happy weekend all.
