around the house

I think my brain and body are still in a state of shock after having to go back to work this past week. Eighteen days at home have completely spoiled me and I felt like a zombie, aimlessly sitting in my office trying to appear productive. I despise that first week back; the week felt endless. It did not help that it was -26C on a few of the days!! This weekend I am trying to just chill out and relax and get my headspace back to normal. It is windy and cloudy outside and so I am walking around the house shooting pictures. I like the blue light that is permeating our space today so I wanted to share it. Maybe I will get motivated to start knitting something this week :)

Happy weekend.

Beautiful pictures.
I can't comprehend -26C. I simply can't compute how cold that would be.
It's going to be 41C here tomorrow.

Wow. I can completely relate to your post! (including the frigid temps - I'm in Winnipeg!)I was so unmotivated at work this week. Next week has to be better! Stay warm!

I'm all over the place since Christmas - completely out of what bit of routine I had. The bad weather here is causing all sorts of problems - we're just not used to it! Miss Muffett's school has been shut and so has Nipper's nursery, Mr Earplugs has been working at home, and we've been having some more work done on the house - it's all been driving me a bit nuts!

Yes it is a shock but the weekend gives wonderful respite before we start work all over again on Monday. Happy knitting. Jane x

I love your blue goblets! I have 1 antique wine glass (left out of a set of 4)in a similar colour and it makes me so happy!
Hope next week is happier times at work!

Great pictures, love your blue glass! Can't believe how you get around in such cold weather, England seizes up when things get really cold or too hot come to that.

Now ironically it's been a good week back at work for me because of the bad weather - the speed has been much slower as we struggle with our few inches of snow - it feels like you're meant to put yourself first - that is a good way to start January in my books.

Sorry that your typical conditions don't make it easier for you, you guys are too well trained at coping with it but make sure you put your wellbeing first nonetheless!

I hope you've had a totally relaxing weekend with bits of psyching up for the coming work week.
The blue on the wall in the first photo is The Exact Blue I've been searching for, for ages. and yes, I know... 'lighting is everything'. xox

Wow - you put my week into words! It was really hard wasn't it? I'm hoping for a much better work week this week - and hopefully the working hours will go much more quickly instead of dragging like they did last week. Beautiful pictures!

Knitting is definitely called for! We are just getting back to our normal schedule this week and I'm actually really looking forward to it.

I'm not sure I could get back to a schedule of work that well after 18 days off...oy. And oh, please stop posting your insane temperatures as my field work trip to northern Ontario looms closer and closer and I'm trying to stay in denial that it won't be miserably bitter cold! :)

Beautiful shots and I love the soft and gentle feel of the blue tones!

Such beautiful, peaceful pictures, the light is amazing. Hmmm, is such amazing light worth suffering -26? I don't know, my gosh that's cold, I feel like such a wimp now sitting here shivering with the heat on just because it's 2 degrees outside.

funny you are -26 and we are +6! Goodness it is raining outside here. It would take alot of rain to wash away the snow, but it really makes it messy and icy. Hope the transition back to work goes easier, always hard after a holiday.

Luminous photos, Raina! And I can really relate to your post. This week is really back to "normal" now for us here--holidays over, jet-lag from travlel over... So getting back in the swing of things. And getting stuck in with new projects in my studio--I'm excited! But still it seems we should be on holiday, huh?! LOL! Happy Week, my friend ((HUGS))

It's so hard to come back.

Think it could be a turtlepie with butterscotch and caramel since I can't have chocolate? Or maybe a white chocolate or PB turtle? Hmmmm....
