i begin with a knit

pattern: tea leaves cardigan
designer: Melissa LaBarre for Madeline Tosh
yarn: Blue Sky, suri merino
colorway: earth
needles: 3.5 mm and 3.75 mm
mods: used smaller needles than recommended to arrive at a smaller fit

I think it is a good omen that I can begin 2010 with a post that comprises a finished knitted piece. This pattern was truly enjoyable and I love the finished product. I am not certain about the buttons, I just sewed them on today - but knowing me, I won't change them. I should post a link to the pattern, but for the life of me I can't remember how to do it, so you can check my ravelry link to get the link or you can email me for the info.

I take this as putting my left foot forward (being that I am a lefty it is my 'good' foot) into the new year! Tomorrow I am back to work and so it begins......

It's gorgeous! I love the color, as I'm an earth tone oriented person. :-) And just my two cents, I like the buttons. They just add a little something to it with their shape and size.

Oh my goodness Raina, that's absolutely gorgeous. I have a big list of things that I want to try to knit this year starting with Shalom (on Ravelry). It'll be my first 'serious' bit of knitting, aside from baby stuff and my socks, so I'm quite nervous about it. I think your jacket will be going on my wishlist. Love the buttons.

A good omen indeed! It's simply stunning on you ~ beautiful yarn and pattern. You also are wearing a fantastic choker necklace that I love, love, love!!!

My wish is that this year of work will be a time of growth and challenge bringing you a sense of accomplishment.

Oh yes this must be a good omen for your knitting this year. Beautiful work.

Does the pattern explain the name? I'm intrigued.

Brava! Love the cardi, the colour (I'm quite partial to a good rich brown) and the blues from your jewelry make a stunning combination.
You're pretty stunning too :^)
You'll certainly stay warm with that sweater, travel safely.
