I love those Saturday mornings, that when I get up I KNOW I am going to have a good day. I have these neurotic weekend rituals and without them my weekend just is not the same. I get up, make coffee, check my email, facebook, flickr, blog,...(I know, that is SO lame!), and then I set out to shoot an inspirational picture for the week. The rule for that is that the picture has to make me happy every time I look at it. I then print it out on this little mini photo printer I have and put it in my January Moleskine notebook....yes, I have a Moleskine journal notebook for every month that I fill up with writing, little notes of things I want to blog about and I paste my inspirational photos in there.
Something about that whole set of tasks destresses me from my crazy work week and sets the mood for the rest of the weekend. I know everyone of you has these little rituals - share them with me - these are the kinds of little bits that make me excited and that give me ideas for my photos.
....and, THANK YOU all for voting in the poppies. I was so excited to get more than my initial two votes and I was tickled pink that Meri nominated me :)

Rituals are manna to the soul, I think. The morning cup of coffee (or green smoothie), the comfy socks and the big chair, and the rhythmic knitting on a project that you've been waiting all week for. That's a perfect morning on the weekend for me!
I love your journal! What a great way to combine modern technology with something similar to the keepsake book of the Victorian period. Thank you for sharing your weekend ritual.
What a lovely ritual, and how nice to start the weekend with a moment of reflection. Recording things on paper is the perfect antidote for a busy week - I know I spend far too much time online, which doesn't have quite the same effect!
I really like the coffee and cream scheme in your photos today.
have a wonderful weekend Raina, relaxing and inspiring rituals!!
I love the photo of your cat, just lovely!
Oh I love those two pictures!
Hey flickr friend. I love the idea of a moleskin for every month with photos! I keep a beautiful journal but haven't put photos in it and now I will! Wonderful way to live beautifully...
xoxo

I do the same thing. I make sure that I wake up an hour before everyone else so that I can have my quiet time to drink my coffee and check all of my blogs before I jump in the shower and start my day. Have a great weekend.
I don't particularly have any set rituals, but the hubby does. Every morning, he *must* brew his tea, make his oatmeal, and read the morning's paper during breakfast. :-) If you want to really watch him twitch, interrupt the routine. LOL
oh lovely images! i love the idea of collecting things that make us happy...
Hi, Raina! Your weekend ritual sound much like my own--not lame at all! I have weekend rituals, and weekend rituals too. And many of the weekend rituals are much like the weekday ones--LOL! But on the weekend hubby & I make sure to have plenty of room for fun, creativity, making good food, etc. I've been keeping a journal for years--a notebook I write in, paste things in, etc. I find it a refreshing way to create apart from the electronic and online world. Wonderful photos...especially that kitty shot! Happy Weekend, my friend :o) ((HUGS))
Yes I love some rituals, too and coffee just after getting up is one of them every morning!
Have a great Sunday!
I'm hoping your weekend has been relaxing and enlightening, I do enjoy your rhythms. My weekend rituals are not much different from my weekday, except Sunday mornings when it's Market with Mom :^)
Sorry I was late picking up, I SO would've voted for you!
Sleep in and a lazy morning on either Saturday or Sunday does me nicely, Tony makes breakfast at the weekend so I can blog/read/knit whilst i'm waiting. I like the idea of a note book for blogging inspiration. Jane x
Reading your rituals so makes me wish I had some. And your happy picture that winds up in a 'month' journal is such a great idea!
Alas, I still work most weekends so those days are no different than any other day. EXCEPT...Sunday mornings we always go to see the girls. I can't handle the week without that time!
Love that shot of your cat.
My weekend rituals begin on Friday afternoon - I work more hours on the other days of the week so I can finish early and I get home and all is quiet. I make tea and sit and knit and try and let all the thoughts of the week settle so i don't have to think of them over the weekend.
What a fabulous idea! I love that you print an inspirational picture - I'd love to do something like that. I'm not sure I really have a ritual -- my time seems to be dominated by whatever task is most pressing. That's something I'd like to change in this new year - I think I'd be more relaxed and productive if I had a plan -- or a collection of rituals.
Your cat pictures is just gorgeous. Very, very inspriational -- thanks for giving me something to think about this morning!
Oh wait -- I thought of one -- I do keep a running notebook of inspirational (see, I do know how to spell it LOL) ideas that I see when reading blogs. If you take my little notebooks away from me, I might panic! ;-)
You really have a system! I have nothing so organized, but I must walk outside in the fresh air, rain, sleet, or snow, every single day.
Saturday mornings are for my Mama. Hubby, Kidlet, Mama and I all go out to breakfast as a family and then it's off to get the groceries with Mama and Kidlet.
I make pancakes or waffles on Sunday morning.
And I always hope I'm the first one awake so I can have an hour or so to just be alone in the quiet and knit. It doesn't always happen and I get grumpy when it doesn't!
soul food!
Well your photographs are very lovely!
Coffee is key to every morning, weekend or weekday. Then afternoon tea (Lapsang Souchong).
What beautiful journals you must have! I love to do little 20-minute ink paintings...wish I did them everyday...weekly seems like a good ritual cycle. :)
Your rituals sound familiar, I am sure we all do similar things. I want to touch Mr cat, hes lovely.
That's a wonderful ritual! I do the same coffee, emails, Flickr, blog rutine - every morning ;-)
Oh what lovely rituals, your journals must make such a wonderful collection, a very inspirational idea.
I love the weekends, after a slow Saturday morning family breakfast I stay on sitting at the table, no need to rush around clearing up, just drinking coffee, sometimes reading, sometimes knitting. It is lovely to have such a gentle start to the day.
The first time I took a look at your blog was because of the name, and I have to say it still makes me smile every time. So, question, why this name?
I live my life in ritals. I get up, feed the Babies, write, work out...then go about my day...then after I cook dinner, I always dance about the living room...it helps keep me sane.
Rituals are good. Mine have been skewed lately ever since getting food poisoning. I'd kill to sleep in in the morning!
Your photos are lovely!!
