just in time for valentine's day

pattern: rusted root by the Zephyr Girls
yarn: pink cashmere
needle size: 4.0 mm and 4.5 mm
size: xs

I finished my pink knit just in time for Valentine's day. When I see it on the photo I don't dislike it quite as much as I do in real life. The fact is...it makes me look fat. Something about the chunkier cashmere is not doing it for me. Trust me when I say that I post-processed the heck out of the photo to make it look blog-worthy :) I tend to like my knits finer - this would be a good pattern for a bamboo yarn or a lovely cotton of some kind or other.

Sigh! The reality is that I was knitting this at my busiest time of the year and was not running my usual big runs and ... well, eating way too many gummy bears! That sweater reminds me of these rather unhealthy transgressions.

...but, on the absolutely bright side of life, you have to agree those pink flowers are the cat's meow!

Happy, happy Valentine's day to all of you! If I could, I would send you all real flowers - these virtual ones will have to do.

The design is great! I like it!
You are not fat! At all!
But I understand - I feel fat - or fatter :) - when I use something too narrow (that's not the word, i think)
I whish you a nive Valentine Day too.
(we've "imported" this celebration about 30 years ago)

Oh Raina. You're adorable! That little sweater is such a pretty shade of pink -- and a pretty pattern too. Isn't it nice to finish a project?

Raina! Can I just say that you look JUST like I imagined you? This is the first time I've seen your pretty face on this blog, and I am so happy to finally "meet" the face behind the name. :) Really cute sweater, too, by the way.

Oh, it's lovely, Raina! That pink is so sweet...I love that! And the sweater fits you so well--and that pink too! That trailing-leaf desing is so flattering. I recall having seen that sweater pattern before, but wasn't sure about it either--mostly because of the sleeves. I'm funny about too short sleeves as I have scaring on my arms from a car accident. But with a longer-sleeve top under like you're sporting--perfect idea! What are you working on next? Hope you weekend is filled with much LOVE, SWEETNESS AND JOY--Happy Valentine's Day :o) ((BIG HUGS))

Maybe you'll grow to love it? I hope so :)

Hi there Raina! Oh my, a cashmere rusted root. I hope it does end up growing on you because that fabric must be to die for.

And seriously, it looks great. I like it layered with the grey shirt.

Beautiful roses...such a soft, sweet image.

You do NOT look fat! Any thinner and you would be unhealthy. I think it looks super cute on you ~ love the layered look ~ it's very hip. And cashmere. sigh There's nothing as cosy to wear. Enjoy :D

Thanks for the pretty pink flowers! Hope your Valentine's Day has been sweet and filled with kisses :D

O-M-G! You do NOT look fat. But what a shame to waste cashmere if you don't really love it. The color is so delicate and pretty - perfect for the day.

Well, whatever you think of it, it truly is a gorgeous knit. Nobody would ever believe that you haven't been knitting all your life - you really do inspire me. You don't look fat at all but some clothes make you feel that way. Hope it grows on you.

You look gorgeous! What a pretty sweater! You look svelte and elegant!

Fat? Ha! No way!
I like that the pattern is not in the centre, makes the sweater more interesting.

I've missed you!
The sweater is beautiful and turns you into the kind of soft feminine creature that The Babe won't be able to keep his hands off.

Your gummy bears comment reminded me of the birth of my first baby. He weighed 9 lbs. 13 oz. at birth -- when they told me that I said, "Ugh, I shouldn't have eaten all those chocolate malt balls!"

I think you look darling. I like the sweater with your long-sleeved grey t-shirt and jeans. Happy (belated) Valentine's day.

I can't beeelieve you made that! I assumed you were an outstanding knitter (is that what you call a person who can knit: knitter???)
anyhoo, I had NO idea you had such mad skills!
Okay, when I saw the photo of you my first thought was...she sure is tiny. And that's the truth.
I'm in awe of your knitting talent.
