home again

New York - dirt, noise, smell, fantastic restaurants, central park, green peeking out amongst the concrete-ness, fabulous shopping...fabulous shopping...did I say fabulous shopping? Perfect weather, 28 degrees almost every day.  The first seven days we rented a little studio apartment (the operative word here is "little" - like maybe 400 sq. ft.); my last four days I spent in the Ritz-Carlton on the waterfront.  What a crazy time!

favorite places to eat - prune restaurant, gramercy tavern, pure food and wine

favorite districts - Flatiron/Gramercy, Meatpacking District, Chelsea, Battery Park

favorite places to shop - Moschino, Jimmy Choo, Ann Taylor (we don't have that store in Canada), every little indie boutique in SOHO and NOHO, and matta ny

favorite walk - from Battery Park along the waterfront all to way to the Meatpacking district and back, time 2 hours total

things we did - walk the high line, go to the top of the Rockeffeler Center, went to listen to music at Webster Hall, went to a little underground concert we were spontaneously invited to by a photo gallery dude who we hit it off with; the concert took place at the John Varvatos store (the babe's favorite shopping place), we went to the Chelsea Market and checked out all the foodie heaven stalls, we rode the Subway, often in the wrong direction. We walked the Brooklyn Bridge, we shopped at Saks and lost each other, we walked in Central Park, I went to see the World Trade Center site.

downer - the $900 I willingly paid  in duty on my declared items and the subsequent 2-hour suitcase search and grilling by Customs Canada in Montreal - man I hate those people, power-hungry a$$holes!

All in all a fantastic vacation mixed with some fun business.
