Long weekends are the best. It has been raining here so much - great for the garden but not so good for doing summer things outside. Finally, the sun is out and it's warm enough to sit outside and read summer romance novels, wear cutoffs, drink a crisp glass of white and give oneself permission to wear gloriously chipped nail polish on the toes. Here are my recommendations:
- anything by Erin Hilderbrand - my current read is One Summer. I love her stories of Nantucket with some romance and small town living thrown into the mix; pure pleasure reading!
- inexpensive summer wine like Smooth White Bodacious bottled in British Columbia or a crisp, white Chablis
- tomato, basil and vegonnaise open-faced sandwiches on some yummy multi-grain bread
- a bowl of cherries
- a kitty purring next to you enjoying the sun
